Things that are much easier when it's this cold (in Belgium it f*cking is)

UPDATE: The funniest story of last week:

Niels Albert, who was only 9th in the Belgian cyclocross championship although he was named a favourite,  had a perfect excuse for his underperfomance: a fan of winner Sven Nys pulled him of his bike. People who do such things cannot be fans of me, replied Nys, who felt slightly insulted after Albert's accusations. The fan himself claims he accidentally hit Albert while trying to stand up after slipping on the ice due to a lack of adapted shoes. On top of that, he was wearing a hat supporting Albert. World Champion Albert is now uncertain to defend his title in the world cup later this month due to a fractured rib. Today, he assembled the press to explain (again) his point of view. He also launched a proposition that should avoid these kinds of incidents in the future.

Hmm

could you make this up if you wanted to?

ORIGINAL MESSAGE

- freezing

- admiring Dutch people (they sure do know how to skate)

- watching cyclocross (a sport that is only really interesting to watch when the athletes risk going down in evey corner)

- making fun of cyclocross (20.000 people watched 15 (!) athletes compete for the Belgian title this weekend ... Sven Nys, the last man standing -cycling-, won)

- smirting (flirting while smoking outside a restaurant is much more effective when you can offer to keep the girl warm)

- catching a fresh nose

- staying inside

- feeling sorry for homeless people

- criticising Flemish media (the shitload of articles on why it's this cold, what happened in traffic because it's cold, where to go ice skating, where not to go ice skating, etc. is impressive!)

- making a list of interesting, relevant stories that didn't make the Flemish media (I'm working on it)

- denying global warming

- explaining the magnitude of the global warming problem to people who still dare to deny it, by pointing out that extreme cold in Belgium is also a consequence of the world's climate being messed up ... read about it here

- performing crazy stunts

- enjoying wintery tunes

(three new songs of the upcoming album THE END TIMES on The Eels' Myspace
